In the shadows
Who: Reno and Caesar
What: Taking a break from studying and going out for a drink
Where: Some bar in the town probably
Warnings: Shameless flirting from Reno's part? Nah, don't know yet, we'll see.

He was early. It wasn't even 8pm yet and he was already standing outside the entrance to Ramuh tower and waiting for this Caesar guy who he didn't recall meeting in real life yet. Weren't the journals a brilliant invention? Made meeting other students so easy. Reno was wondering if he was breaking the habit of being late. This was the second "date" he had been early for. Then again it was probably just the studying causing it. He woudl rather be doing anything than staring at school books or thinking about how there was no way to avoid failing. He shook his head to shake away his thoughts. This wasn't a time to think about school, this was his night out.

He was laying his back against the cold stone wall of the tower, looking up at the darknening sky. The stars were coming out, it looked pretty through the mist that his breathing created in the cold winter air. Reno had never been one to appreciate the beauty of nature or things like that, but even he had to admit the sight was somehow soothing. If only it hadn't been so goddamn cold. He rubbed his gloved hands together and wished Caesar would show up before he'd freeze to death.
30th-Sep-2006 01:41 pm (UTC)
Reno stuffed his hands into his pocket to keep them warm and strolled towards the gate. Walking in the snow was annoying, he decided. It didn't bother him too much, but still. It was annoying.

"Huh?" he turned to look at the younger boy over his shoulder, a smile spreading over his lips "What kinda place, hm? Normal," he stated turning his eyes back to where they were heading and shrugged laughing a little. He never knew what to answer to that question. "Midgar's a nice city, unless you live in the slums below the plate of course."
30th-Sep-2006 01:55 pm (UTC)
"Hmm..." Well, not much he could say to that. He couldn't relate to that at all, so best not to make a comment. "Normal," he repeated, chuckling a little. "That doesn't say much, does it? What's normal for me is griffons and dragonriders, Runes, war... and there are no chocobos where I'm from. So come on, tell me something about where you're from."
30th-Sep-2006 02:50 pm (UTC)
Reno slowed his pace so he was walking next to Caesar "Griffons, dragonrides and Runes? Where the hell are you from?" He shook his head alittle. The more people he met the weirder stories about foreign worlds he got to hear. It just reinforced his opinion that his own world was normal. But how to describe that to someone who had never been there?
"Well... We don't have those things. We have all normal stuff like humans, technology, mako energy, chocobos..." He shrugged. They were approaching the Lithium Portal and he motioned for Caesar to enter first.
30th-Sep-2006 03:09 pm (UTC)
He grinned, moving to enter the Lithium Portal. It always seemed that everyone else's world but his was weird, and they of course felt the same about his world. "Heh... I guess you would think my world very primative. The most technology I experienced before coming here was an elevator. Things like computers, televisions... even lamp posts," here he nodded up to the electric lanterns overhead. "We had nothing like that."

He shrugged in an "Oh, well, I'm here now" sort of way.
30th-Sep-2006 03:27 pm (UTC)
Reno followed the other redhead through the Lithium Portal, comtemplating what the boy had said. No technology at all? How was that even possible? Reno couldn't imagine life without computers and cellphones, let alone without lamp posts. Suddenly a thought crossed his mind and he just had to ask: "Do you have dinosaurs?"
30th-Sep-2006 04:17 pm (UTC)
Should've figured that question would come up. But he gave it some serious thought. There certainly had been some very strange creatures in the world: mermaids, giant turtles, and krakens just to name a few. "No," he answered decisively. "It's not like we're in the Stone Age or anything."

Yeah, enough talking about that. He didn't want to confuse his new friend any further. "So... ah, where are we going?" Yep, diversionary tactics were useful.
1st-Oct-2006 12:16 pm (UTC)
Well at least this boy knew what a dinosaur was, unlike Zidane. That had to be something already. There weren't even street lights and yet Caesar claimed it wasn't Stone Age. Reno found it difficult to believe but shrugged it off as the other changed subject.

"I know a nice little bar where we could go, unless you had something else in mind," he replied while walking forward.
1st-Oct-2006 04:40 pm (UTC)
"Eh... honestly?" Caesar rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I don't go out much. So I wouldn't know what to suggest." Sheesh, that made it sound like he had no fun at all. "Not sayin' I don't go out," he added hastily. "It's just... all this studying! Doesn't leave me much time for other things."
2nd-Oct-2006 05:46 pm (UTC)
Reno chuckled amused by the boy's reaction. He did his best to hide his amusement though, in order to not offend his new friend.
"Yeah, I know how it goes. Haven't gone out in ages myself either," he comforted Caesar. It was true, he couldn't even remember when was the last time he was out having fun. Probably at the ball, and that had turned into something not so fun in the end.

"Guess I'll lead the way then," he grinned and started to walk towards the bar he had in mind. A cozy little place without too many people around. He wasn't in the mood for crowds tonight.
2nd-Oct-2006 06:14 pm (UTC)
Any place was fine with him, so he was glad to let Reno lead the way. Of course, the last time he'd been anywhere like a bar was when he lived in Budehuc. It was good the one Reno chose wasn't very crowded. Still, Caesar looked a little lost in this environment and looked to Reno for instructions. Yeah, he really needed to get out more.
6th-Oct-2006 07:23 am (UTC)
He laughed softly at the Caesar's lost expression and glanced around, looking for a nice empty table preferrably at some corner where they could be alone. After seeing one he motioned towards it "You go sit down already and get out of those extra clothes, I'll get us something to drink."

He watched the boy walk towards the table to make sure he needed no more instructions on his way there and then went to get two beers, grinning to himself.
6th-Oct-2006 11:44 am (UTC)
"Thanks," Caesar said a bit sheepishly. He moved to the table, gratefully shedding off his heavy clothes. He was now wearing his sleeveless shirt, probably why he'd bundled up so much in the first place. He stretched out, glancing over to where Reno was.

Looked like Reno was getting drinks for both of them. That was thoughtful. Caesar would have to pay him back for it.
9th-Oct-2006 10:23 am (UTC)
Turning back to the direction of their table with beer glasses in both of his hands Reno came to a halt and his grin melted into a surprised expression for a moment before returning to his lips even wider than before. Instead of the eskimo he had come in the bar with there was a quite hot young man sitting at his table not wearing too much at all anymore.

He wolf-whistled appreciatively and made his way back to the table, placing one of the glasses on the table in front of Caesar and shrugging off his jacket - leaving him wearing his white shirt - before sipping from his glass.

"Very glad we decided to come somewhere where it's warm," he grinned and winked.
9th-Oct-2006 11:54 am (UTC)
He blinked, turning at the sound of the whistle. Caesar turned light red and grinned sheepishly. He was here to have fun so might as well enjoy the compilment. Watching Reno, he admitted that the other redhead looked pretty good.

"I'm glad too," Caesar said, reaching for his drink. "Though I think for a different reason." He grinned teasingly and took a sip. It tasted a little strange, but oh well. "Oh, thanks for the drink," he said. "I'll pay you back."
9th-Oct-2006 05:16 pm (UTC)
It had been a long time since Reno was out like this. And a long time since he had flirted with someone like this, it felt weird but he was definitely glad he was there.

The light blush on Caesar's cheeks and the teasing smirk made the boy irresistibly cute. He decided he had to get a kiss from those lips before the night would be over.

"No no, it's on me," he shook his head firmy. "If we drink another round you can pay for that."
